The holidays are coming up on us pretty fast. If you get the joy of having a teenager on your list, make sure you ask specifics on what they want. For teenage boys, there are things like video games and cards like the Yu-Gi-Oh and such that they might be interested in. There are so many things that teenagers have outgrown. Depending on if they’re a preteen, or a full-fledged teenager, you may want to ask them for a list. Most teenagers I find these days, as being a mom to two of them, they want games. Video game systems and games to go with them are a huge deal. For other teenagers, its clothes that they want. They want and have to look good in school.
For those teens that are into clothes, you might want to get them to list some of their favorite stores both on- and off-line to help you get an idea of where to start. Then, I would have them get online and mark some things and take notes from the styles that they are looking at. You might consider giving them gift cards. That is a great thing these days for hard-to-shop-for people like teens.
For teens that are into the video games, first find out what system they have: PlayStation, Xbox 360, etc. Usually when they already have a system that they want games for, it’s easy for them to name off a few games that they want for that system and then you can just go from there and get them what they asked for. Make sure that when you’re looking for the games they have listed that they are something for their age and are not “M for mature” for a young teenager. You don’t want to get something that is mature when they are much younger. You also want to shop around and compare prices. Because on some of the more popular games you might look and find it on sale somewhere and save a few bucks. And on the games that have been out for a while, eBay is a great place to shop. You can even buy new games on there for a good price. Shop around and have fun.

Psychic reading for teens has evolved as a concept today to deal with the tensions faced by the teenagers. Every person passes through the teen phase of life which is challenging and confusing to the young minds. It is challenging for the simple fact that one traverses from the childhood stage to adolescent stage and then to the adult stage. The natural physical changes in the body due to the hormonal changes and the change in emotions and the thoughts make one feel confused. The sudden entry into a life of responsibility from a protected and catered life comes to some as a jolt. Well, the way each one faces this transformation varies according to the individual mettle. While some take it in their stride as part and parcel of life it becomes a matter of concern for parents regarding their wards’ progress when they are at the crossroads of this junction.
Some parents try giving friendly talks showing support, understanding, and compassion to help them out, while some others take them to counseling and mentoring personally through qualified persons. With the advancement of technology, now psychic reading especially for teens are available online through chat rooms, phones, etc. psychic reading has gained popularity since the teenage generation is tech savvy and is more comfortable with the advanced gadgets. They prefer this kind of exercise for the simple reason they have privacy to vent out their bottled up emotions.
The teenage population faces various issues during their adolescence like academic pressure, peer pressure, parental pressure, social and psychological attention, complexities, infatuation, etc. These inadequacies may have its repercussions on their activities and they reflect upon their social life and academics. When these issues become a little tough on an individual he or she needs to be addressed and taken care of. It has been observed that parents too approve the media of approaching online psychic reading since the teens recognize the feeling of oneness in a chat room and they come to know that several adolescents have also passed through the same kind of emotions and hurdles, and it is not that they are the only ones who are alienated. Most of the teenagers have taken a liking to this occult science and they discover new things about self through this reading.
The various types of psychic reading available are: tarot reading – using tarot cards, aura reading- where the psychic reads and interprets the psyche of the person on the basis of the colors surrounding the body called aura, palm reading – reading the lines of the palm, astrology and numerology based upon the date of birth and the letters of the names, psychic based upon the things they use, and physiognomy in relation to the physical features. With the choice aplenty the individual has a free hand to decide upon his beliefs. A type which is suitable for one may not be suitable for another since no two persons are alike.
A psychic is more like a mentor or a guide to the teenager. He senses the energy around the person, show them the path, and give them the necessary advice to handle their problems.

Believe it or not, even before a student begins their first class of the morning, they are already at a MASSIVE disadvantage.
What I am talking about has got nothing to do with the teachers, nothing to do with the curriculum, and nothing to do with the students themselves. It’s a hidden factor that seems to have deceived us all, and yet it is so fundamentally important that it simply cannot be ignored any further. This factor is something called your “Circadian Rhythm”.
Circadian Rhythm (sleep-wake cycle) is a fancy word that refers to the way our body keeps us awake or makes us fall asleep. During the day we are fresh and alert. This is what keeps us awake. During the night time however, we begin to get drowsy and tired, and that is what makes us fall asleep. Our sleep-wake cycle ebbs and flows throughout the day, but lets keep it simple for now and say that during the day it keeps us awake, and during the night it makes us fall asleep.
Throughout your lifetime, your sleep-wake cycle will change. What this means is that the sleep-wake cycle of an adult is very different from that of a teenager or child. Lets take a look at the differences, and for the purposes of this article, the group that I am going to be comparing are the teenagers who will range from around 12-18 years of age.
The average adult sleep-wake cycle has some generic features. There is lots of wakefulness around the morning – early afternoon period. This is between 9 a.m – 12 p.m. Mid-afternoon is usually a time of drowsiness, from 1 p.m – 3 p.m. This is followed by a further bout of alertness from 4 p.m – 7 p.m. Following this is a “wind-down” period from 8 p.m – 11 p.m, which prepares the body for sleep.
When you take a look at this, the idea of a 9-5 workday makes perfect sense. The majority of your most “alert” hours are going to be during this period. Of course, there is the 1 p.m – 3 p.m “slump” period, but the cultures that were smart introduced the idea of an “afternoon siesta” here.
Now let us take a look at the teenagers circadian rhythm. First off, any parent that has had a teenager or has one at the moment, will know the drastic changes that occur during this time. There are many physical changes that occur, and some of the most notable changes are that of attitude and mood. These changes are due to a huge amount of hormonal alterations. It’s these hormonal changes that affect the sleep-wake cycle of the teenager.
It’s difficult to plot the average sleep-wake cycle of a teenager, simply because our current society interferes with it to such an extent. However we do know certain things. The most significant hormonal change occurs at night-time. From around 10 p.m – 12 a.m a teenagers body is flooded with hormones, particularly sex hormones. These hormones act as a biological drive to seek a mate, and therefore the teenagers body and mind will be extremely active and alert during this time.
It’s only after this time that the teenager can begin to wind-down. This means that if a teenager was in tune with their sleep-wake cycle, they would be going to sleep somewhere between 1 a.m – 3 a.m. The reason that most teenagers can get to sleep earlier is because they are so sleep deprived from waking up early for school. But if you take away an early morning wake up time (say during the summer holidays), this is when most of them will get to sleep.
Teenagers also require more sleep than adults, around 9 – 10 hours. This means they will then naturally wake up in between 10 a.m and 12 p.m, and sometimes even later. They receive a huge burst of alertness around the 1 p.m – 3 p.m period, and then their sleep-wake cycle ebbs and flows until the most alert period during the late evening/night-time.
Now then, if you compare the sleep-wake cycle of an adult to that of a teenager, it’s obvious that they are in COMPLETE CONTRAST to one another. 9 a.m – 12 p.m is when most adults are at their most alert, and that’s when teenagers should be sleeping. 1 p.m – 3 p.m is a period of drowsiness for adults and a period of alertness for teenagers. 8 p.m is when adults begin to “wind-down” and teenagers begin to “wind-up”.
Unfortunately, the current school system structure is set up in a way to facilitate the adults, but it comes at a huge price to the students. Teenagers’ hormonal changes means that they simply can’t get to sleep when they need to. It’s literally impossible for them to fall asleep at an earlier time, and the early school times ensures that almost every single student will be in chronic sleep deprivation for the entire school year.
And the consequences of this sleep deprivation? Decreased learning potential. Decreased ability to focus in school. Decreased ability to concentrate and pay attention. Decrease in energy and vitality. Decrease in motivation and interest. Increase in aggression and agitation. Greater mood swings. Greater propensity for over-eating and obesity. Suppressed immune functioning. Overall decrease in all cognitive and physical ability…
The list goes on.
If our school systems are going to facilitate growth. learning, and education, then some type of change needs to be made to this time structure. Giving children time to sleep when they need it most is what it will make them smarter. It may not be the answer to every problem, but it is still a critical factor that we all need to consider when deciding how to improve the quality of education, both now and in the future.
